Amitabh Mattoo visits Migrant Colony Sheikhpora | KNO

Interacts with residents, assures early redress of grievances

Advisor to the Chief Minister, Prof Amitabh Mattoo accompanied by DDC Budgam, Mohammad Haroon Malik today visited the Kashmiri Pandit Migrant Colony at Sheikhpora, Budgam for on spot assessment of living conditions of the inhabitants.

 

Prof Mattoo reviewed the availability of basic amenities, progress of undergoing construction of residential accommodation and other related issues. He was welcomed by the large gathering of habitants presently residing in the colony.  They put forth a detailed memorandum of issues, grievances faced by them.

The inhabitants raised the issue of problems faced by them due to sharing of accommodation, lack of black topping of inner link road, non-development of community centre, grievances related to migrant employees, cleanliness’ and sanitation of the residential colony etc.

          Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mattoo assured the gathering that all their issues will be redressed on priority.  Regarding the demand of end to sharing accommodation system, the Advisor assured the migrants that he will personally take up the issues with concerned authorities in addition to bringing the matter in the notice of Chief Minister.

          He said the state government under the leadership of Ms Mehbooba Mufti is committed to provide all basic facilities in the migrant colonies. He said it was the dream of late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that all migrants must come back and live a respected life along with other brethren.

         Mattoo gave on spot directions to the R&B department to start black topping of all inter links of the colony. He assured the gathering that he will again visit the colony within 15 days to ensure all issues have been addressed.

Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Mr. Raina, Additional SP Budgam and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
